Writer's Camp FAQs

Who is Page 15?

Since 2008, Page 15 has provided vital literacy programs that playfully and powerfully engage youth in sharing their unique creative voice. Page 15 is a program of the Urban Think Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit in Orlando, FL. Page 15 has been supported by Disney, Dr. Phillips Charities, United Arts of Central Florida, and many others.

What does my child need for camp?

Page 15 provides campers with all camp supplies including journals, paper, pens, craft supplies, etc. Things you need to bring:

  • Comfortable attire and tennis shoes
  • Packaged snack for outside snack break
  • Face mask
  • Prescribed medication (if necessary)
  • A good attitude and a creative brain!

How many students will be in class each week?

Maximum camp capacity is 25 students each week. At camp, students will work in small groups of 5-7 students with a lead writing coach. The small group system will ensure that each camper will receive one-on-one attention, connects authentically with a real community of peers, and prevents noisy and disengaging discussions with too many people.

Can I request that my child be in a small group with a friend?

We are happy to accommodate friend requests if possible! Please email camps@page15.org with your child’s name, their week of camp, and the name of the preferred friend.

Who will be my child’s writing coaches and how are they monitored?

Page 15’s has pulled our favorite writing coaches together to lead our summer camps this year. All coaches have been vetted and trained by Page 15 leadership and all have completed a national criminal background check. Additionally, each of our coaches is paired with a second coach in their small group so there is always an additional adult providing accountability. Page 15’s Program Director Paul Driscoll manages and trains each of our coaches and will meet with them before and after camp each day to support their instruction and your students’ experience.

Can I purchase an additional copy of my child’s book?

Yes! Additional copies of your child’s book can be ordered for purchase.

How do I apply for a financial scholarship for my child?

A limited number of scholarships are available in each week of camp and cover tuition and supplies. Please complete the scholarship application form and Page 15 will update all applicants when scholarships are awarded in May 2022.
