for students of ALL abilities.

The Young Writers Society is a FREE after-school creative writing club that encourages students in 4^th – 8^thgrades to set aside academic standards and practice writing in a low-stakes, judgement-free environment.

Perfect for writers of ALL ABILITIES – from the budding young wordsmiths who love the process, to the reluctant writer who hasn’t yet found the know-how or interest in writing.

At the Young Writers Society students will…

• Work in small writing teams alongside our experienced coaches to support one another along their creative journey and learn how to provide and receive helpful feedback.
• Developing confidence and communication skills through sharing their work with their writing community.
• Find inspiration in a variety of literary themes and genres often overlooked in the testing focused school environment.
• Activate empathy and manage emotions by writing and reflecting on a variety of topics important to them, as well as “listening with care” to peers’ writing.
• Be encouraged to write with pencil and paper daily to help strengthen fine motor skills and handwriting.

Online using Microsoft TEAMS which can be used on most school issued laptops (OCPS). Once registered you will received a direct link to Page 15’s virtual writing room.

Is it really FREE?
Our goal is to provide a valuable outlet for students to write and reflect on their experiences during this unstable time while supporting valuable litearcy skills. We ask that families who are able make a donation to Page 15 in whatever amount you wish. Your contribution supports our mission of providing free literacy programs to those who need it most.
