Page 15 recognizes each and every student as a unique individual. It is our mission to connect students with their voice, empower them to explore its power and potential, and for students to leave our programs with a renewed confidence in their writing and reading abilities.
Our nontraditional approach begins by creating a welcoming, positive atmosphere in which students understand that their identities and ideas will be treated with dignity and respect by all members of the Page 15 community. This safe and nurturing environment acts as the fertile soil from which a young mind can begin to grow.
We listen to what interests our students first and then set them on a course of independent creative exploration. In choosing what to read and write about, emerging writers pursue what matters to them. We believe this approach instills a true sense of ownership in the work they produce, and allows them to develop their own unique voice at their own pace.
All Page 15 programs are staffed with qualified “coaches” trained to support young writers throughout this process. Our coaches are experienced writers who have a passion for language and for serving young people.
Lastly, we believe it is just as important for young writers to share their work.
