WRITE A STORY – PUBLISH YOUR BOOK – SHARE YOUR VOICE WITH THE WORLD!

Experience what writing should be – creative, social, and fun!

Page 15’s popular Young Writers Summer Camp gives authors in 2nd–12th grades the opportunity to write, illustrate, and publish their very own book with help from an amazing community of published authors, editors and illustrators.

Perfect for writers of all abilitiesfrom the budding young wordsmiths who love the process, to the reluctant writer who hasn’t yet found the know-how or interest in writing.

Each one-week long camp encourages writers to explore their creative voices and write their very own stories. Throughout the week students experience a one-on-one art consultation with a professional illustrator to design the cover of their books and on the last day of every camp, each young author will be featured in a one-of-a-kind virtual book release party to share their stories for friends and family around the globe![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2474″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css=”.vc_custom_1592424710528{padding-bottom: -1px !important;}”][vc_btn title=”REGISTER FOR 2020 SUMMER CAMP” color=”warning” size=”lg” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fpage15.org%2Fcamp-registration%2F|title:CAMP%20REGISTRATION|target:%20_blank|”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1588698850277{margin-top: -1px !important;}”]Tuition Rates

“I have never seen my daughter so excited to participate in a program. I have taken her to art classes, gymnastics, after-school clubs, etc. But Page 15’s summer camp is by far her favorite. She yelled at me for picking her up 5 minutes early!” – Young Writers Camp Parent

“Page 15 has been the highlight of our daughter’s summer for the past two years. While she is here, her creativity is nurtured and she is encouraged in her love of reading and writing. She is also given specific tools to use to
help her in the creative process.”

“When my child got in the car after the first day of camp, he begged me to register him for the second week of camp this summer and next summer! And this was after being reluctantly dropped off that morning.”

Scholarships?
Page 15 offers a limited number of full scholarships during each week of camp. Scholarships cover tuition, lunches, and all supplies for camp. To apply, please complete the simple scholarship application form. Scholarships will be awarded and announced in May 2020. Because of the limited number of scholarships available priority is given to students who (1) have been nominated by a teacher, and (2) have not received a scholarship in prior years. For more information on scholarships, please contact us at info@page15.org.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_toggle title=”Writers Camp FAQs” el_id=”1551722582488-2949b846-8cdd” css=”.vc_custom_1588707509762{padding-top: 1px !important;background-color: #95d2da !important;}”]Who is Page 15?
Since 2008, Page 15 has provided vital literacy programs that playfully and powerfully engage youth in sharing their unique creative voice. Page 15 is a program of the Urban Think Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit in Orlando, FL. Page 15 has been supported by Disney, Dr. Phillips Charities, United Arts of Central Florida, and many others.

What platforms will be used to deliver online camps?
Page 15 will use ZOOM and Google Suite for camps this summer. Parents will receive a specific Page 15 email address for each week of camp that students will use to download camp materials and to submit their writing. More details upon registration.

What does my child need for camp?
All campers will receive a special packet in the mail prior to their week of camp which includes a composition book and some other goodies they’ll need during the week. They will also need access to a computer or tablet with video capabilities, a good attitude and a creative brain!

How many students will be in class each week?
Students will work in a small group of 8-10 students with two writing coaches. The small group system will ensure that each camper will receive one-on-one attention, connects authentically with a real community of peers, and prevents noisy and disengaging meetings with too many people.

Can I request that my child be in a small group with a friend?
We are happy to accommodate friend requests if possible! Please email camps@page15.org with your child’s name, their week of camp, and the name of the preferred friend. Friends must be registered in the same week of camp.

Who will be my child’s writing coaches and how are they monitored?
Page 15’s has pulled our favorite writing coaches together to lead our summer camps this year. All coaches have been vetted and trained by Page 15 leadership and all have completed a national criminal background check. Additionally, each of our coaches is paired with a second coach in their small group so there is always an additional adult providing accountability. Page 15’s Program Director Paul Driscoll manages and trains each of our coaches and will meet with them before and after camp each day to support their instruction and your students’ experience.

How will you maintain the engaging and creative atmosphere that Page 15 summer camps are known for?
While nothing can completely replace the creative atmosphere of our writing studio at the Young Writers Summer Camp, there are tons of creative opportunities possible online and at home! Campers will be challenged to decorate their own in-home writing studios; daily creativity and writing challenges will be shared; and each child will have an individual cover design consultation with a professional illustrator.

My student has been using ZOOM at school and doesn’t really love it.
Many students have been using ZOOM for distance learning since March and we’ve found that the few parents reporting student dissatisfaction specify that it is due to the large group learning environment where it is difficult to speak and connect with their peers. Page 15’s small group sessions will provide a close-knit and encouraging atmosphere that we know your students will enjoy.

How will my child receive their final printed book?
Campers’ final bound books will be mailed to them after camp.

Can I purchase an additional copy of my child’s book?
Yes! Additional copies of your child’s book can be ordered for purchase.

How do I apply for a financial scholarship for my child?
A limited number of scholarships are available in each week of camp and cover tuition and supplies. Please complete the scholarship application form and Page 15 will update all applicants when scholarships are awarded in May 2020.[/vc_toggle][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”1755,1756,1757,1754,1753,1752,1201,1200,931,1763,1765,1766″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_id=”2″ css=”.vc_custom_1453370093818{margin-top: 60px !important;}” el_class=” smallSpacesRow”][vc_column el_class=”donation_prompt”][vc_raw_html]JTNDaDIlMjBjbGFzcyUzRCUyMmNlbnRlcmVkJTIyJTNFJTBBJTNDc3BhbiUzRVRoZXklMjBhbGwlMjBoYXZlJTIwc3RvcmllcyUyMHRvJTIwdGVsbC4lMjAlMEElM0MlMkZzcGFuJTNFJTBBJTNDJTJGaDIlM0U=[/vc_raw_html][vc_column_text el_class=”center_text”]At Page 15, we believe every child should have the opportunity to share their voice, and tell their story.
