Words are POWER.

From academics and careers, to personal relationships and human connections, the ability to read and write effectively is vital.

Children who can harness the power and potential of their own voice can grow to become strong voices in their communities, leading to a healthier and more equitable future for everyone.

But our nation’s children are struggling to keep up. Can you imagine being trapped without the power to communicate your feelings, your ideas and your creativity?

Page 15’s literacy + empowerment programs shine a light on the power of words to empower students of ALL abilities and ALL backgrounds. Building resilience and advancing critical literacy skills will make a positive impact on their lives and communities.

Creative Writing Contests

Page 15 brings hands-on writing and publishing opportunities directly to local high schools through its annual Creative Writing contest.

Fifteen selected finalists participate in a series of real-world editing workshops, and each selected piece of writing is paired with a custom illustration from a local artist.

Spotlight on Chaz

Meet Chaz! Chaz first came to Page 15 when he was in the 2nd grade. His older brother Tyris was an established member of Page 15’s after-school writing program and encouraged Chaz to come for the welcoming environment.

“My brother just kept telling me you will feel like yourself at Page 15 because it feels safe and you can just express your feelings,” Chaz told us.

After 18 months away from Page 15 during Covid, Chaz is now a foot taller and in the 4th grade. He’s one of our most prolific writers and draws inspiration from his family, writing poems that “tell emotions and stuff, so people don’t feel left out.”
